More Water Play

Until we get to the States, it's going to be water play heavy on this blog. My days with Seb have a perfect rythm of outdoor play until lunch, and then the excitement of the biggies getting home.  Mooj goes back to school at 2, which leaves a litte over an hour before we get Freddy.

Lately, the first thing Freddy asks when he gets in the car is "can I play in the hose with Seb?"

Apart from the fact that I get nailed with the hose every time, it is the best way to pass the afternoon.

Seb errupts into exposive laughter exery time Freddy dumps water on his head.
When Seb reaches the top of the slide he says "I got you. I got you." By that he means "don't let me fall, lady!"
I think the lawn is going to stay nice and green this year.
 Who needs a pool, right?

I'm in love with these freckles.

Jumpin' Rope

There has been a lot of jumping rope around here. Freddy has the most spirit, for sure.

He brings the jump rope with him wherever he goes.
If we're waiting for a sibling, he hops out of the car and does a little jumping right there on the sidewalk.

Moojie is the fastest as the only one able to get two rotations in one jump. He can jump boxer-style.

Zita is of course the most graceful and able to do more tricks than any of us.

The kids took pictures of me jumping, and let's just say there is no bigger blow to one's self esteem than seeing a mid-jump jump rope shot of oneself. Delete. Delete. And delete. Thank goodness those pictures are gone.

Pai Had A Birthday Too!

We had Freddy's birtday on Saturday, Mother's Day on Sunday, and then Pai's birthday on Monday.
We had all had our fill of cake, sweets and food by that point so Pai asked to postpone his carrot cake.
We obliged and made one a few days later. This year I tried Martha Stewart's recipe and it was much better than Joy of Cooking's traditional carrot cake. Sorry, no photos.
Next to water play, singing happy birthday and blowing out candles is Sebby's favorite activity.

Since I met Pai when he was 18, and he's now 36, I've officialy known him for haf of his life. That's a long time!

18 Months

Mr Seb turned 18 months on Mother's Day! We are all enamored with this phase of Sebby's life.

Some of his most used frases:

"what's goin' on?"
"There she is"
"There he is"
"where's (insert family member's name here)?"
"Oh, what's happening?"
"Bye, bye, I love you"
"big hug"
"oh goodness"
"oh man"
"book. read it."
and as of yesterday "how ARE you?"

The only word he consistently mispronounces is "water." It comes out like "waller" every time. Otherwise, no translation by a family member is required.

He loves any and all things to do with water, including but not limited to teeth brushing, hand washing, playing with a bucket of water outside, and watering the lawn.

He weighs around 15.5 kg and I think his height is 90cm. I tried to measure him, but couldn't get him to stand still against the wall. Did I mention that he never stops moving, like never ever ever?
I'll get more accurate stats at his 18 month check up.

Freddy's 8th Birthday

Freddy's birthday list this year:

Plasma ball (see below)
Soccer balls
Soccer goals
A jump rope
A giant tennis ball

Who doesn't love the simplicity of an 8 year old's list? He got everything on the list and has been jumping rope and playing soccer out on the lawn ever since.
The best part about the goals is that Moojie and Zita join in. It's such a rarity for the three of them to play together. Everything stays dandy until Seb gets in the middle and wants to steal the ball or installs himself in a goal.

We broke our waffle streak and had a pancake breakfast outside as per Freddy's request.
We skipped lunch and headed to the pool early for party set-up. This yellow floaty was a dream until Seb figured out that vigorous kicking flips it over.
By far the best present was the jump rope. In fact, I'm going back for more as soon as I can.

Birthday Boy!

A certain boy is 8 today!

Here's a little trip down memory lane until I get his birthday photos up.
