Smoking is often described as slow suicide. Monkey bread is right up there in the slow suicide category with two exceptipns. 1) It's socially acceptable to eat monkey bread in public 2) the smell is so divine, that as one inhales the cinnamon and buttery goodness filling the kitchen, an out of body experience is certain. In other words, it smells good.
Zita and Pai returned from the store on Sunday night with another bag of raw dough, which of course meant that I was practically forced at gun point to make monkey bread.
(note: I'm typing one-fingered on my phone so I can't put the photos in order or match the steps to the photos- I can only see HTML, not the actual photos)
Here's what you do:
coat small pieces of dough in sugar and cinnamon.
Melt butter and brown sugar on the stove and stir as it heats to get a caramel like consistency. Thick, but not too thick. I didn't measure, but the butter to sugar ratio is roughly 2:1. Google it if you are a precision baker.
Fill a bundt pan with the now coated dough balls and pour the melted sauce over it.
Bake for about 30 minutes on 350.

The enthusiasm from the family was unprecedented, although the term diabetic coma was thrown around a bit. Zita wants to make it again with bits of fresh apple, and Freddy wants to add nuts. I'll keep you posted on the apple nut version as soon as I finish my sugar detox.
