On Language

When there are two languages flying around the house, words sometimes get a bit mixed up. Here’s a case in point.

Freddy: “Mummy, are there any more loafers? I really want to eat some.”
Me: “Loafers?”
Freddy: “Loafers!To Eat ”
Me: “Loafers??”
Freddy: “Loafers!! You know! Loafers!"
Me: “Do you mean wafers?”
Freddy: “Oh yes, wafers, can I eat some?”

This type of conversation is fairly standard in our house, but perhaps the biggest mix-up lies between the nouns “hamper” and “floor.”
