Crazy Crazy

Every week feels crazier and busier than the week before. I always say things like, "as soon as the holidays are over, things will calm down," or " as soon as the kids are in (or out!) of school, things will calm down," or " as soon as we get all of these appointments out of the way, things will calm down."

I must be a little slow, because it has taken me until Seb is 7 months old to realize that things will never calm down. Not ever. As in, things will always be hectic with 6 schedules, sports and activities that require more driving and spectating and shopping for shoes with each coming year, and laundry that magically goes into the hamper as one outfit, but goes through a multiplication process while I sleep and turns into 4 outfits per day per person (seriously, WHAT is going on with the amount of clothes that show up to be washed?).

The supremely good news is that we have a trip booked to the States. So all of this running around is for a good reason. Until I get all of the essentials squared away, like passports, getting my IRS FBAR forms filed, and everything else that comes along with the last weeks

of school, I can't spend my time on elaborate blog posts, or anything else for that matter.

* just as I was hitting post, i got a call to sign Zita and Moojie up for a tennis tournament on the 20th, 21st, 22nd, and 23rd. We are over committed 4 times over on those days, but maybe it could work for   Moojie.

Things will calm down as soon we get to the States :-)

The Boys and Their Trees

A tree was planted each year a grandchild was born.  Moojie's took off, and despite lots of support and TLC, Freddy's still has a lot of growing to do.

We had a wonderful weekend; one of the best yet.

Rare Shoot With My Zita

Our resident  princess loves nothing more than turning away from the camera. For every 100 pictures of Freddy, I have a mere two or three of Zita. When she does let me snap away, I go hog wild with my little canon.

This is another crazy8.com dress. Some of the stuff is tack to the max, but the good stuff is oh so very plentiful.

Goodbye Nuns. Hello Priests

I was all ready to get sappy and reflective on Moojie finishing 9th grade, leaving the nuns, being done with school uniform, and leaving a group of kids that has been with him since pre-school.

We don't need more melancholy in this world, so instead I'll focus on how great these next three years will be. Moojie is more than ready to move on and be done so there's no sense in getting sad for him.

I'm so grateful for our Moojie.

An Afternoon in Lisbon

We decided to see the Joana Vasconcelos exhibit in Lisbon two (three?) weekends ago. My only goal for the weekend was to get a break from routine, and have time with just the 6 of us. This would have fit the bill if it had not been for the lines. I unknowingly picked the one day when tickets were half-price.

Driving along the Tagus on our way there.
A church tower next to the Ajuda Palace.

These are all out of order, but here is a rare sighting of Seb asleep in his car seat.
Freddy continues to be my most willing photo subject.

The left facade of the palace.

After seeing everything there was to see outside the palace, we took the kids to Monsanto park where they could run and play. Mooj hung out with Pai and me and chatted over coffee. For my brother's benefit, I should mention that iced tea and tosta mistas were involved.
